\"Understanding<\/a><\/p>\n

It’s interesting the stigmas, misconceptions, and misunderstandings people have about homeschooling and homeschool kids.<\/p>\n

A friend was just talking to me about the recent school shootings, threats, and violence. She said, \u201cBefore this is all over, they will have a lot more kids being homeschooled.\u201d<\/p>\n

I said rather tongue-in-cheek, \u201cThat is probably true.\u201d<\/p>\n

But then she said something that I\u2019ve heard again and again that I felt I needed to address. Regarding homeschoolers she stated, \u201cSad part of that is they miss out on camaraderie of their friends and group discussions<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Quite honestly, that’s actually kind of a misnomer<\/strong> people use. It\u2019s a false consensus believed by many people who really know little or nothing about homeschooling<\/strong>. So, let me offer a few comments to help clarify the truth.<\/p>\n

First, sure, there are some kids who miss out on camaraderie and being in groups, but not specifically because they are or are not homeschooled<\/strong>. That can happen wherever kids go to school. Sometimes it\u2019s even by choice because not everyone likes groups or social events or sports or activities.<\/p>\n
