Music has been an active part of my life since I started piano lessons at the tender age of…very young. I wrote my first song in high school and haven’t stopped since. I appreciate all types and genres of music and hope my heart beats with yours.
I come from a music-loving family. Many times growing up you’d find us gathered around our piano with my mom playing and the rest of us singing. Each of us can play several instruments. My dad will tell you he only plays the radio and even then gets static, but actually he can pound out a pretty good rock and roll riff on the guitar. At our southern family reunions, you’d find quite a variety of great voices and instruments with a whole lot of pickin’ and a’grinnin’. God has blessed me greatly by surrounding me with many talented people all my life. I draw from these influences and have developed a pretty eclectic taste in music. I love to write and arrange music, and I’d love to share that love with you.
I wrote the song “Little Did We Know” some years ago for an office Christmas party. Since then it has become a personal favorite of a number of people and is very special to me. I hope it brings you the joy and peace of Christmas through the message of God’s Son.
This recording is from a performance last year with my sister Heidi, who was still recovering from a horrific motorcycle accident that even involved throat surgery on her vocal chords. You can tell in our voices that we were both rather emotional and overjoyed that she can still sing. I am so thankful for her continuing recovery and am proud to have her sing my song even through difficult circumstances. I chose the album photo to be of us when we were little kids mostly just to be funny. I’ll probably change it to a split of young and old because right now some people think the song is sung by children, lol.
I’ve listed out the lyrics below. The recording is available on iTunes and CD Baby. Contact me directly for pricing of a soundtrack and/or sheet music, perhaps to perform yourself. Now, pull up a chair. Relax. Sip a little coffee. Click the link below and enjoy the music.
LITTLE DID WE KNOW
VERSE
She heard the baby crying in the night.
Hosanna to the Son of David.
But there was something different in his eye.
Behold your King riding on a donkey.
The echoes of the prophets whispered through the night.
“Jerusalem, Jerusalem!” he cried.
But God’s own people weren’t the ones to see the Light.
CHORUS
Little did we know God had become a man.
There was no one else to fulfill Salvation’s plan.
Some looked for a king, and some looked to the sky.
But no one ever thought to listen to a baby’s cry.
VERSE
Simeon and Anna came when they heard his voice.
Behold the man! I find no fault in him.
Then they began to prophesy and to rejoice.
I wash my hands of you.
What did they see? What did they hear?
What was it about this child that drew them near?
CHORUS
Little did we know this was the Promised One,
Who would come to die for the sins of everyone.
Did anyone hear his voice? Or did they blindly pass him by?
Did anyone hear Salvation in the baby’s cry?
INTERLUDE
VERSE
Those little feet and hands she kissed and held,
Crucify him! Crucify him!
One day upon a cross they would be nailed.
Surely this was the Son of God.
She did not know the cost
For her son to save the dying and the lost.
CHORUS
Little did we know how easy it would be
To believe on Him and live for all eternity.
On this special night a star shone in the sky,
And the voice of God was heard in a baby’s cry.
Can you hear the voice of God
In the baby’s cry?

Have you ever considered about including a little bit more than just your articles?
I mean, what you say is fundamental and everything.
But think about if you added some great images or videos to give your posts more,
“pop”! Your content is excellent but with images and videos, this blog could certainly be one of the best in its niche.
Great blog!
Kevin, I had no idea that in my last six weeks there, you and your family were going through all of this. I had seen references on your FB page much later about the accident, but until now (when I followed your link) I didn’t know when it happened or just how bad it was. I physically flinched when I read about how the accident happened. Your sister sounds like an amazing woman.
I can’t tell you how glad I am that you have been part of my life, even from a distance.
May you and yours have the most merry and blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Thank you so much! I’m very thankful for you and certainly appreciate all that you’ve been through yourself. May you also have the merriest Christmas and happiest New Year. God still has great plans for you!
